An Exterior Design That Stands Out

“Is Mazda a luxury brand?” That’s a question that many people ask once they notice how much the manufacturer offers on its vehicles, like the Mazda CX-5, and this, as much at the level of design as at the level of in-car technologies.

Officially, Mazda is not a luxury brand, but this reality doesn’t prevent Mazda cars from offering a wide range of comforts at a very good price. In that regard, it seems that’s exactly what the manufacturer is trying to achieve with the Suna Edition for its 2024 models.

One of the first things that we notice is that the Suna Edition Mazda vehicles share various exterior design elements with the Kuro Edition, a package that was offered on some vehicles in 2023. In fact, we see on the Suna vehicles several exterior elements in gloss black finish, like the wheels, side mirrors and even the front grille.

However, if these two editions share some darker design details, the Suna Edition offers a lighter-coloured body that creates a more evident contrast. The Suna cars and Mazda SUVs, like the Mazda CX-30, come with an exclusive colour scheme: A Zircon Sand Metallic paint colour, which gives them an elegant and distinctive style.

A Timeless Interior Style

Suna elegance is also what you’ll find once inside one of these Mazda vehicles. In fact, these different cars also share various cabin design elements that together contribute to defining the Suna Edition style.

During the announcement of this edition, the car manufacturer revealed seats with black suede inserts and terracotta-coloured upholstery, combined with terracotta stitching and gunmetal accents.

This configuration creates a luxurious look that moves away from the bright colours that we often find in modern cars and closer to a timeless style.

Performance and the Suna Edition

The Suna Edition is not only defined by its style and design: For Mazda, it’s also important that the name be synonymous with performance. That’s why the three gas vehicles that get the Suna treatment also get the excellent 2.5 L turbocharged Skyactiv-G engine.

We already know that this engine produces a maximum of 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque when it uses gas with an octane rating of 93. This engine is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and i-ACTIV all-wheel drive. The whole creates an unrivalled driving experience.

Mazda Canada has not released any details yet on the performance of the 2024 Mazda MX-30. We can expect that it will keep its predecessor’s electric motor, which generates 143 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque.

However, we’ll have to wait for the announcement of this Mazda electric vehicle to learn more about its powertrain and the possible variations that the Suna Edition will offer.
